Team Training Information

Acceleration Sports is passionate about positively helping athletes achieve their individual sports specific goals. It is important for athletes to understand the dynamics of how to train for their sport enabling them to be life-long exercise enthusiasts and provide them with the confidence to perform at their best.

Our Program Consists of:
Groups of up to 20 athletes meet with our performance coaches at your school or club. The sessions are held before and/or after school and run for 60 - 90 minutes for your varsity, junior varsity or freshman level athletes. The programs run per season and include training times during school holidays.

> Dynamic Warm up
        These warm ups are functional movement-based routines designed to increase core temperature, increase range of motion through dynamic stretching and ultimately prepare the body and neurological system for a safe and effective practice or competition.

> Speed and Agility
        Acceleration Sports programs always incorporate drills to get the athletes to move as efficiently and quickly as possible in ways that replicates the movements they make in their sport(s). We use ladders, cones, harnesses, bungees, etc throughout the year to challenge the athletes and ensure proper mechanics and continued improvements.

> Strength
        Strength comes from resistance training. Using body weight and free weight exercises, Acceleration Sports coaches devise, monitor and manage the athletes through their strength program. Having a strong stable body helps athletes become more resistant to injury while becoming more explosive and faster for their sport.

> Power
        In order to have power, we first must have strength. As the athletes become stronger, more power training is incorporated into the training regimen. Athletes are taught how to accelerate (take off) and decelerate (land) properly which can drastically reduce injuries.

> Conditioning
        Acceleration Sports incorporates conditioning programs specifically for the athlete's individual sport maximizing their ultimate performance.

> Flexibility
        We use trigger point therapy and various stretching routines that enhance long-term soft tissue adaptations to improve recovery. This positively influences blood flow to damaged tissue and encourages proper collagen fiber alignment during the repair phase enabling the muscles to perform optimally.

> Testing (3 times a year)
        Testing measures athletic movements such as power, speed and agility. Testing can occur up to three times per year and is tailored to the team sport. Each athlete will receive his or her individual testing results.

> Nutrition Recommendations
        Nutrition plays a huge part of athletic performance giving the athletes the tools to perform at their best. An individualized approach is taken to provide each athlete with the essential nutrients needed to perform their specific sport.

All tailored team training sessions are structured based upon whether teams are in pre-season, in-season or off-season.
